CASTILLO PALAU

- DESCRIPTION
At the end of the 14th century, the Muslim farmhouse of Petrés passed into the hands of the Aguiló family as a noble lordship. This family, in the 15th and 16th centuries, had a notable rise in social and economic status and royal privileges, which was reflected in some of the buildings in Petrés, such as the castle-palace. During this period, the building was built, which has an eminently residential character, although it has defensive elements such as walls and battlements.
The castle is made of masonry reinforced with blue stone ashlars at the corners. The building has a general plan of an inverted T. It was made up of two buildings, the first corresponded to the residential part of the castle-palace, and had two floors, organised around a courtyard. The second building is made up of the stables and a large cistern.
