LA FONT DEL COMTE

- DESCRIPTION
In the heart of the Serra Calderona is the spring of “La Font del Comte”. It is a natural enclave where the drinking water that supplies the population is born.
It owes its name to its feudal past, although the remains of a late Roman villa in the surrounding area suggest that its existence may date back to the 4th or 5th centuries. In any case, a lot of Muslim pottery has appeared in the surrounding area.
The area has been restored by the town council in recent years, and a policy of planting trees with native species is being developed, as well as rehabilitating traditional habitat and irrigation structures (shelters, ponds, etc.). Close to Peña Blanca and the Mina area, from where you can see the sea, there is a nearby forest track, allowing all kinds of outdoor activities such as hiking.
